50MB per Month is the limit Amazon is now placing on Kindle 3G data usage

One of the benefits of having the Kindle, certain models of course, was the ability to connect to the internet through their 3G offering – which is/was free.

Users over at MobileRead are discussing the fact that messages are now popping up stating that a 50MB limit has been reached.

Apparently this is a new policy that Amazon is enforcing but didn’t publicize the change much if at all. The change looks to have rolled out at the start of July.

It is interesting that after the limit has been reached, users can still shop and download ebooks in addition to browsing Amazon.com and Wikipedia. After all, we wouldn’t want to stop users from buying more books.

The models effected appear to the Kindle Keyboard and Kindle DX with no 3G option on the Kindle 4 it remains unaffected.
