You may or may not be surprised by this latest statistic, but 52% off tablet buyers are women. The result was reported by CentraleCommerce and the survey was released by Zmags.
“Results showed that 52% of tablet owners are women and 81% of all tablet owners use Facebook.”
The fact most tablet owners use Facebook shouldn’t be too surprising, however most being women may be to some of you. The iPad was never really marketed as a female gadget, but more of a male-oriented machine capable of things like gaming, movie watching, and content consumption.
Some other interesting results of this survey were that “the typical tablet owner is 40 years old with an average annual household income of $63,000.”
The survey also showed that tablet owners tend to spend more in online shopping than, online shoppers using other electronics, like computers, to make their purchases.
The CentraleCommerce report says, “On average, a tablet owner spends $325 per purchase.” Also, 9% were reported to shop luxury items from a tablet as compared to 3% of those shopping online using other means.
According to Internet Retailer, the actual group that conducted this study is called Equation Research, and the study was done in November.
