We’ve been waiting and waiting for this 7inch Honeycomb tablet – Acer Iconia Tab A100 and it has finally come to US and Canada, sporting Android 3.2. The WiFi tab comes in three storage options – 8GB costing $329.99, 16GB costing $349.99, and a 32GB model (not available yet).
Acer Iconia Tab A500 comes with Android 3.2 that’s suited to smaller form factors. This Honeycomb version also brings SD media sync support for direct transfer of files to and from the SD card, compatibility zoom for proper rendering of apps and games (with pixel scaling instead of stretching) built for smartphone screens, and optimizations.
Acer Iconia Tab A100 features a 7inch TFT WSVGA multi-touch screen (1024×600 resolution), Adobe Flash Player 10.3 support, HDMI port, six-axis motion sensing gyro meter, 5mp rear-facing camera with flash, HD Video capture at 720p at 30 frames per second, bar code and QR code reading with rear camera, 2mp front facing camera, microSD, microUSB, 1GB RAM, NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 4.5 hours of 720p video playback, and clear.fi for quick connections to DLNA-compliant devices.
Apps include Google Movies app for renting and playing movies, Google Music to access personal music collections on the web wirelessly, NemoPlayer for video; photos and music, Aupeo! for online radio, Acer LumiRead and Google Books, Social Jogger (Facebook and Twitter in one place), Acer “Day Planner”, and the trial version of the “Docs to Go” app. And all the good stuff from Android Market.
Meanwhile, Acer Malaysia quietly informs users that Acer Iconia Tab A500 will receive the Android 3.2 update on August 25. The delay is because of some undefined new Google policy that Acer had to work out with Google. Motorola Xoom and ASUS Eee Pad Transformer have been sporting Android 3.2 since July.
Good news on both Acer siblings.
