Acer’s Iconia Tab A100 is expected to release April end or May, according to information from part builders. Meanwhile, the Iconia Tab A500, launched in Europe last weekend, gets an unboxing video.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100 has the same innards as its larger counterpart – Honeycomb and Tegra 250 Cortex A9 processor with low power GeForce GPU that supports Flash 10.1. It’s also got dual cameras, a 7 inch LCD capacitive display with 1024×600 resolution, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage, micro-SD card slot for up to 32GB internal memory, 1080p HD video playback capability, Dolby Mobile sound, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi connectivity, HDMI port, mini-USB and full-sized USB port.
The small tablet size is targeted at the female audience. The smaller size is an easy fit in one hand, leaving the other hand free to operate the device. Acer describes this as “more convenient” for female owners than a 10-inch tablet which would more often need a grip with both hands.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100 is priced at $485 in the UK according to a preorder page. US may see a lower price what with the larger Iconia Tab A500 selling at $450.
What do you think? Will the size of this device really win it brownie points from women?
