Acer Iconia Tab A501 4G Available for Preorder on Amazon for $500 Off-contract

Acer Iconia Tab A500 has been the second favorite after ASUS Eee Pad Transformer in Honeycomb tablets for the $350-$450 range. The 16GB WiFi model started selling for $450 and the 32GB model for $500. Prices have come down since but what people really wanted to see was a tablet with 3G or 4G connectivity.

Back in March, Acer announced a 4G tablet Acer Iconia Tab A501 that would release on AT&T’s network later this year. While we’re still waiting for that to happen, the 4G tablet has come up for preorder on Amazon. Off contract, the 16GB model is available for preorder for $499.99. That’s the cheapest 4G tablet in the market right now. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE costs $529 with a contract and $700 otherwise. Even Motorola XOOM 3G users who are now being upgraded to LTE have paid $600 for their device with a contract.

Strangely, there has been no announcement from Acer regarding the launch of Acer Iconia Tab A501. In fact, the release date is not mentioned on the Amazon page either. Though the tablet on Amazon has come from Acer, we don’t have official word from the manufacturer on how the tablet will be priced.

Acer Iconia Tab A501 is essentially the same as its WiFi predecessor except for the addition of 4G radio. For the awesome price, I’m sure the 4G tab will find many fans.
