ASUS Releases Update to Fix Eee Pad Transformer Dock Problems

by Mies Larsen on May 20, 2011

It looks like some UK customers are facing problems with the much talked about keyboard dock, accessory to the even more talked about ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. Some users are experiencing connection problems with the dock while others are not able to charge their tabs. ASUS has released a patch – firmware version – that’s going to fix these pains.

This is the first we’ve heard of problems on the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. Since ASUS has shared news of the update only on its UK Facebook page yet, the problem does not seem to be universal. In fact, the ASUS UK Facebook page reads:

Not all units affected. Some had connection problems (so the keys trackpad weren’t responding) and some weren’t allowing charge. The engineers are confident that the firmware update should resolve the glitches.
The FB page also provides details on the update: Eee Pad Transformer firmware update released – keyboard dock issues fixed. Don’t forget once you have updated the firmware on the Pad and rebooted, you must then also click on the firmware update icon for the keyboard dock (it will appear as a triangle in the bottom right of the screen). We completed the process on our test unit here with no problems.

Many FB users are reporting the problems are fixed post update. Great going, ASUS. That was fast and effective.
Now, if you could also be as fast in bumping up production and give people waiting for the Eee Pad Transformer a break. With the announced Android 3.1 update in June, the tab’s gotten even hotter than before.
