Barnes & Noble announces NOOK for Web for browser based reading

Nook for Web

Taking a page out of Amazon’s book, Barnes & Noble announced that they have release NOOK for Web which allows its customers to read ebooks from their browser similar to the Kindle service.

With the announcement, B & N is giving away 6 free ebooks in order to entice customers and create a buzz around the new cloud service. But hurry, the free titles are only available until July 26.

The new service sync across many devices and apps and runs in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer. What seems to be missing, at least for the moment, is the ability to highlight certain sentences and/or paragraphs and the ability to make annotations. Hopefully, that feature is on the way.
