Barnes & Noble to try Windows 8 on Nook tablets in September

Reports are surfacing that Barnes & Noble may be launching a Nook Tablet running the latest Microsoft Windows platform called Windows 8.

Set to be released in September (again rumor), the 7-inch tablet will try to get a boost by using a non-Android version.

With Amazon launching their new line of Kindle Fire called the Kindle Fire HD and Google launching their 7-inch tablet called the Nexus 7, both on the Android platform, will moving to Windows 8 give the Nook any lift?

This is real interesting because when someone thinks of tablets I’m sure the one of the last ones they think of is the Nook so with Microsoft’s recent investment in B & N, it stand to reason that this can be seen as sort of a long shot in an attempt to gain some market share.

No pricing information has been released at this time but I would think that B & N will try to get the new product out before the shopping season takes hold but it also dependent on the release of Windows 8.
