The Apple iPad Mini rumor mill has been steadily gaining steam, as its release date (presumably) gets ever closer.
The price of the tablet has been as closely guarded a secret as any in the Apple stables, but Media Markt, a German retailer, may just have the provided the scoop about the pricing of the iPad Mini.
Engadget cites (apparently reliable) sources of Mobile Geek in its report, and the sources claim to have come across internal documents from Media Markt that have detailed specifics about the various models of the Apple iPad Mini, and their accompanying prices.
Going by the leaked documentation, the new tablets from the Cupertino company will come in 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions, with all of the versions coming in both black and white, and having either both 3G + WiFi or WiFi only.
The German electronics retailer seems to have the prices set as well – the basic, no frills 8 GB version will be WiFi only and will retail at €249. Each subsequent storage iteration sees the price go up by €100. Hence, the 16 GB version costs €349, the 32 GB is €449, and 64 GB €549. If you want 3G connectivity, prepare to shell out an additional €100 on top of the prices stated for the corresponding WiFi only versions.
With taxes and USD-Euro exchange rates compensating for each other, the dollar prices for the iPad Mini shouldn’t be too far away from the Euro prices, if at all. Given that the 16 GB WiFi only variant of the new third gen iPad with Retina display retails at $499, customers will be pleased to know that the corresponding iPad Mini will cost an entire $150 less.
