Since the Google Nexus 7 tablet has hit the market, it has been selling like crazy and was even sold out for a short time. After all, a powerful 7 inch tegra 3 tablet plus Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for $200 almost sounds too good to be true.
However, Google has been mum on the actual sales numbers. Digitimes is reporting that suppliers will ship up to 4 million parts in Q3 of this year with holiday shopping pushing Q4 numbers up to 5 million possibly.
With more markets to enter outside of the United States, these numbers seem reasonable. The only question is what will Amazon do? The Kindle Fire is the leader at the moment but with new models to be rumored on the horizon will it be enough to stifle the Nexus 7.
In addition, unless you have been under a rock, Apple is rumored to also be entering the 7 inch tablet race with an iPad mini.
This is shaping up to be a very interesting Fall/Winter.
