iBALL 3G 7334 Tablet Review

The iBall 3G 7334 is a mini tablet, hoping to compete with similar sized models from smaller brands as well as more renowned counterparts including Apple and Samsung. iBall is hoping to attract buyers by offering more features at a lower price. Through sturdy, the iBall 3G 7334 is far from the sleek design of expensive tablets like Samsung Tab 2 or Apple iPad mini. Measuring 195 x 121 x 12mm, it fits more into the inexpensive category of tablets. The 7 in glass screen is plastic-encased to protect the screen from accidental falls. As with other 7 in tablets, the iBall 3G 7334 has a boxy shape with square edges, comfortable to hold over long periods. Weighing about 333g, it’s not as light as the iPad mini at 308g but way lighter than many other tablets available in a similar price range.

The iBall Slide 7334 is fairly loaded for ports, with a power on/off button on the top sharing space with a volume rocker, SIM and Micro SD card slots. The headphone jack, mic ,mini HDMI and a mini USB port are housed on the right side of the bezel. The 7in TFT multi touch display has a resolution of 1024 x 600-good for a tablet device-through not the highest. Text, images and icons are not always sharp and well defined in brightly lit environments.

The tablets performs well in most tasks. Running on a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor with 512MB RAM, the 7334 is designed to support HD videos and most high definition games available on the Android platform. Video playback and games run smoothly, with no buffering, and the sound from the sound from the rear facing speaker is clear and can be cranked up to a decent volume. Apps and websites open speedily, the display is quite snappy while rotating between landscape and portrait mode.

The Slide 7334 has a front facing camera to make video calls. The video quality works fine, with a clear picture and no lag but  disappointingly the 2mp rear camera is not up to the mark. The 3100mAh battery also feels a bit poor for a 7in screen and worked 2.5 hours at a stretch in our tests. Available online at a  price of Rs.10,990 ,the iBall Slide 7334 is a good buy, specially when compared to other similarly priced tablets.
