Jetpack Joyride is among the most popular iOS games around over the last year or so. Developed by Halfbrick Studios, this game has received critical and popular acclaim thanks to its simple gameplay and fun game scenarios.
Halfbrick strangely decided not to release Jetpack Joyride on Android in all the time that had passed since its debut in the Apple App Store. The game even made its way to Facebook as an online game in its App Center in the meanwhile!
All that is about to change, though. Yesterday, the Amazon App Store exlusively released the adventure game for Android, and made it free too, to boot! However, Jetpack Joyride will not be coming to the Google Play Store for an unspecified amount of time.
The game needs a working version of the Amazon App Store app running even after it has been installed in your Android device. Should you choose to uninstall the Amazon app after installing Jetpack Joyride, the game will stop being functional too.
While it should be a great amount of fun on any Android smartphone, Halfbrick Studios hasn’t indicated any plans to bring an optimized words to droid tablets. Android Police weren’t exactly very effusing in their praise for what they saw either:
“To check for tablet compatibility, we have installed Jetpack Joyride on a Transformer Pad 300. On this 10″ tablet, it ran just fine, though the graphics did get a little blocky. It’s quite possible that Halfbrick will be releasing an HD version with higher quality textures optimized for tablets.”
You can download Jetpack Joyride from the Amazon App Store here. If you don’t have an Amazon account (or are not from the USA) you need to wait even longer for the Play Store launch of this little gem of a game.
