News Corp. and Apple Inc. are working together to release the online digital newspaper subscription service entitled “The Daily” on the iPad. Supposed to launch on January 19 at the Museum of Modern Art by both Steve Jobs and Rupert Murdoch, the event has been postponed some weeks as the online subscription service needs some work yet.
New Corp. is taking this project quite seriously going as far as to hire 100 experienced journalists and online media writers from competition namely Forbes, New Yorker and New York Post. Subscribers will assuredly be getting genuine and original news with the Daily News service. News Corp plans to change the existing trend of charging customers a one-time fee to automatic billing.
Getting there first is key in a competitive market and who should know this better than Apple? With Google’s Android Newsstand set to launch in a few weeks, there’s pressure on Apple and News Corp to get the service started as soon as possible while maintaining Apple’s high standards.
