Very recently, Barnes and Noble’s best selling eReader Nook Color got a firmware update that added Email support, Flash support and loads of apps to the Android tab. The $249 Nook Color runs on Android 2.2 (though it has got an unofficial Honeycomb port already).
B&N hasn’t opened its doors to all Android apps on the Android Market. Instead, it has its own applications store that stocks apps that are more in line with the interests of Nook purchasers. The list of apps and games is an impressive one and it’s growing bigger every day.
The latest addition is the Aces Bubble Popper from Concrete Software who have also released Aces Jewel Hunt and Pocket Ants for the device. Other games include Angry Birds, Flight Control Uno, Solitaire, Tangram, Word Search, Catch a Thief, and more. You also find useful apps such as Pulse, EPI, Epicurious, Spawn, Cheese Plate, American Airlines, and more.
American Airlines is the first airline app on the Nook Color (it’s also available for Apple and other Android devices) that enables users to check flight notifications, view flight details, check status and schedules, access mobile boarding passes, and monitor standby status. User can also track their AAdvantage accounts and enroll in the program.
Nook Color offers some organizational tools such as Calendar, Quick Office, etc., and learning apps such as Lonely Planet phrase book, Word of the Day, Cat in the Hat, etc. There are some great apps for kids too such as interactive books like Sandra Boynton’s The Going to Bed Book, Drawing Pad, Tikatok, Preschool, TapToTalk, etc.
There’s something for every member of your family. Your Nook Color is now the prefect eReader and companion – adding fun to trips with the kids, keeping you updated on your travel arrangements, and so much more.
Way to go, B&N!

Such a LIE. Number of apps has been going DOWN if anything. New developers aren’t being accepted, there must be some sort of agreement with BN launch partners that there will be no competition for a certain period of time after the debut of the nook app store.
The number of apps has beinf going up. When it first staryed there was 138 now there is upwards of 150.
Not to mention that very few are free, even though they are free in other formats such as Apple devices.
