Barnes & Noble is extending the availability of its top selling eReader tablet NOOK Color and E Ink Pearl NOOK Simple Touch by bringing them to Target stores across the country as well as Target.com. Devices and accessories have arrived at Target, starting October 2, and will be available nationwide soon.
B&N is taking steps to increase the visibility of its Android digital readers as well as availability. NOOK Color, the color eReader cum tablet, is priced at $249 and the simpler touchscreen enabled NOOK Simple Touch at $139. Both devices can now be procured from Best Buy, Books-A-Million, Fred Meyer, Office Max, P.C. Richard & Sons, Radio Shack, Staples, Target and Walmart, in addition to Barnes & Noble and www.bn.com.
With Kindle Fire becoming available on November 15, it’s a good idea to get more eyes on the NOOK lineup. Buyers will soon be scouting stores and devices for their holiday shopping and greater accessibility and offers will be key factors in their final choice.
Chris Peifer, Vice President, digital business development at B&N states that they are excited to bring their award-winning devices to Target as they expand the retail locations where people can purchase NOOK.
NOOK Color is the eReader with a 7inch VividView(TM) Color Touchscreen with access to a collection of over 2 million publications including eBooks, newspapers, magazines, and interactive children’s books. The device includes email integration, apps, Flash support, and games users to have a great reading experience while enjoying some tablet features. NOOK Simple Touch includes a 6inch E Ink screen that’s ideal for the eyes, is non-reflective even in direct sunlight, and offers the closest paper reading experience. It has access to B&N’s expansive book store too.
