Astraware, UK-based game developer, publisher and distributor for a range of smartphones and mobile devices has released a new word games pack exclusively for B&N’s NOOK Color. Astraware Word Games pack includes five classic word games – Shuffle (make as many words as possible including one target word), Wordsearch (find listed words in a grid of letters), Hexxed (make word chains though tiles), Gridlock (link words to create as many words as possible and light up the grid), and Spellmaster (spell words of increasing difficulty).

The word games comprise of word searches, spelling challenges, grid puzzles and anagram games. There’s a choice of difficulty levels to make the games exciting, and Timed and Classic modes to suit your mood. Select Timed to challenge yourself or Classic to relax and have a fun time. The games work with a 100,000 words dictionary that grades words not just on their length and letters but also on how interesting or uncommon they are.

The games also include a choice of three graphical themes and several ambient music tracks to improve the look and feel of the game, and Wordsearch has a wide selection of fun themed word lists to play with. Astraware has rightly hooked onto the interest of NOOK customers in these games as most book lovers have a wide vocabulary and enjoy playing with words. Howard Tomlinson, CEO of Astraware believes NOOK Color is the ideal platform for this educational game pack and believes NOOK customers will love the games.

Astraware Word Games is available for $4.99 from the NOOK Apps Store and customers can download the games in a jiffy from the NOOK Bookstore on NOOK Color.
