The fifth-generation iPad is reportedly on schedule for a September launch, according to a new report from perennial speculators, Digitimes.
Additionally the second-generation iPad Mini is being expected to launch soon after the 9.7” 5th gen iPad.
The report claims that the next gen iPad Mini will have a “slimmer bezel design to allow a bigger viewing area, while the number of LED tubes used for the device has been reduced from two to one, and battery longevity is also improved.”
The Digitimes report goes on to state that the 2nd gen iPad Mini’s launch schedule is contingent to the various yield issues that Apple and its manufacturing partners have been facing with the 7.9” tablet.
Digitimes claims that leaving out the problematic Retina Display (that is the source of the yield issues) could push up the next iPad Mini’s launch to sometime very close to that of its bigger variant.
Then again, A 2nd gen iPad Mini with Retina display would probably not get a launch till the end of this year at the earliest.
With just a couple of months to go to September, it’d be safe to reckon that we’ll get to know a lot more about the new iPad(s) in a short span of time. Stay tuned!
