Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Arrives in the US, Preorders open; No Release Date for UK Yet

by Valli on June 9, 2011

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is finally here. The Honeycomb tab is available at Best Buy’s New York City store at Union Square and the first 200 customers will be getting a matching leather pouch to protect the Tegra 2 powered slate. With nationwide in-store availability promised for June 17, the black and white variants of the Wi-Fi tab in 16GB and 32GB storage options are available for preorder on Best Buy. Verizon’s 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 should also be available for preorders from today.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi, as expected, is priced at $499 for the 16GB model and $599 for the 32GB model. Estimated arrival date for the preordered tabs is 17-24 June, 2011.

Back in UK, Vodafone has pulled out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v, the model it was expected to release in UK. Instead, it will be launching the refurbished and much thinner Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1; release dates and price still not announced. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v is the original Samsung tablet, from before the iPad 2 launch. After seeing the Apple product, Samsung decided it needed to trim its tab down (at the cost of some features) to beat the iPad 2. The original tablet sports an 8mp camera and is thicker than its successor. Vodafone has released the original tab in Germany and Australia but seems to think the newer Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be more competitive in UK.

Any of you got your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 yet?
