Some Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Units Do a Sleeping Beauty Act

Galaxy Tab 10.1

A thread on XDA is bringing an odd problem to light on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Apparently, many users are unable to revive their tablets from sleep mode when it has been off for a while. Some of these guys bought their tabs in the US and went home overseas. Their country doesn’t have the tab yet so there’s no support there and if they want Samsung US to help, they have to pay for shipping the tab to US and back. Not a fun prospect at all besides being a pain in the neck.

The problem referred to as “Sleep of death” on XDA is literally that bad. There doesn’t seem to be a common solution that will fix the problem for all the affected users. Some users manage to solve the problem by waiting 30 seconds, some by trying a combination of buttons, some by depressing the power button for 15 seconds, while more have just given up.

With so many users affected, the problem is obviously there and it’s not a minor one either. Samsung should pay close attention here or it could see many Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 units returning to stores. With the iPad 2 still running ahead, that’s something Samsung does not need.
