Toshiba Announces 3 Refreshed Excite Android Tablets

Toshiba has announced that it will be launching refreshed versions of its Excite Android tablet lineup in a press release earlier this week.

The 3 tablets, dubbed the Excite Pro, Excite Write and Excite Pure, are fairly well-specced devices running on Nvidia Tegra processors. Read on below to know more about them.

The Toshiba Excite Pro is high-end slate priced at $499. It has a 10.1-inch PixelPure display (with a resolution of 2560 x 1600), along with a NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip. It comes with the latest Android version 4.2 – Jelly Bean.

It’s also got 2GB DDR3 RAM, and 32 GBs of internal storage. The Excite Pro happens to have an 8MP shooter as well, along with Harman Kardon stereo speakers (with DTS Premium Voice Pro), Micro HDMI + Micro USB ports and a Micro SD slot.

The Excite Write is an even higher end Android tablet than the Excite Pro, and it is priced at $599. It has a 10.1-inch PixelPure display (2560 x 1600) with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. This happens to be a ‘digitizer’ display, which means that the Wacom digitizer (made most famous by Samsung’s Galaxy Note series of phablets and tablets) is compatible with it.

Like the Pro, the Write has a NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, Android 4.2 – Jelly Bean, 2 GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, an 8MP camera, Harman Kardon stereo speakers, and the same Micro HDMI, Micro USB ports with a Micro SD slot thrown in for good measure.

Finally, the Toshiba Excite Pure is a budget large screen Android tablet with a price tag of $299. It has a 10.1 inch AutoBrite display (along with a resolution of 1280 x 800). Unlike the high-end Excite Pro and Write, it has a NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip in it, but like them, it has Android 4.2 loaded in it. Unlike them again, it has just 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, a 3 MP camera, and stereo speakers.

The 3 new Toshiba Excite tablets that have been mentioned in this post cover almost all the possible market segments on offer for 10 inch tablets. All of them have rather good hardware specifications for their price tags as well. Toshiba claims that all three tablet models will be available beginning on June 25, 2013 and will be available for direct purchase from Toshiba at ToshibaDirect.com or from major retailers and e-tailers nationwide beginning in early July.
