Verizon Motorola Xoom Now Available; Will Need to be Shipped for the 4G LTE Upgrade

by Mies Larsen on February 24, 2011

We reported yesterday that Motorola’s Xoom tablet was coming to Verizon at an entry price of $600 with a 2 year contract. If you’re someone who has been waiting to fork out $600 and be enrolled into a 2-year contract or a one-time $800 to get your hands on a fresh copy of the device, you’ll be glad to know that Verizon has already started accepting orders – both online and at their stores.

For those who want to instantly enjoy lightning speeds on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, I’m afraid you’ll need to endure a bit of inconvenience. Verizon has confirmed that customers will need to ship off their Xooms to Motorola for the 4G LTE upgrade. Customers will be supplied with a protective cover, a box tray and a pre-paid FedEx envelope to ease the process. You may need to wait around a week to get your device back with 4G enabled.
