Vevo Heading BlackBerry PlayBook’s way with 25,000 Music Videos

by Vail Gladu on May 10, 2011

BlackBerry PlayBook is seeing a lot of goodies come its way. It got a PlayBook version of Angry Birds, Facebook and video chatting apps, and now there’s Vevo – the provider of free and legal music videos in partnership with Sony and Universal.

Vevo has already published 25,000 music videos and you’ll see them all on your BlackBerry PlayBook, possibly by the end of summer. Vevo has already released products for iOS and Android; PlayBook is next in line.

The app will feature tabs such as Featured, Artists, Videos, Playlists and Music Map. Music Map is a great way of finding out what’s popular in different cities. There’s also a search bar that allows you to base searches on song/artist name and sorting options based on dates of when music videos are posted, genre, and view count.

BlackBerry PlayBook is the perfect candidate for this app with its sharp 1024×600 display, high quality stereo speakers, 1GHz dual core processor, and 1080p video playback capabilities.

By the time the LTE, WiMAX and HSPA+ BlackBerry PlayBook models appear in the market, Vevo will be coming as a preloaded app on the device.

BlackBerry PlayBook owners, get ready for some real fun.
