Portugal has once again proven its dominance in the tourism industry by clinching 22 awards at the 2023 World Travel Awards, reaffirming its position as the best tourist destination in Europe. However, amidst the accolades, one award went unnoticed, involving a Portuguese hotel group and global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Pestana CR7 Gran Via Madrid, a hotel establishment borne out of a partnership with Ronaldo, was inaugurated in Madrid in 2021 and has now been recognized as the best hotel in Spain.
This four-star hotel, the first of its kind resulting from the collaboration between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Pestana Group (which currently operates Pestanas CR7 Lifestyle Hotels in Funchal, Lisbon, Marrakesh, and New York), required an investment of 15 million euros. It involved the renovation of a 1920s building along Madrid’s renowned Gran Vía.
Featuring 168 rooms, a swimming pool, and a gym, the hotel offers its guests various dining options and a privileged view of the bustling Gran Vía from its top floor.
